Our History

The Latinx Philosophy Conference was created in 2016 as an annual forum of discussion for Latinx philosophers at different career stages and working in different philosophical traditions. Its initial meeting took place at Columbia University, and was organized by César Cabezas, Mariana Beatriz Noé, and Ignacio Ojea. Subsequent meetings of the conference have taken place at other sponsoring academic institutions that include Rutgers University, Marquette University, MSU Denver, Temple University, and John Jay College of Criminal Justice. The main goals of the conference are to allow Latinx philosophers to present their work in a friendly and low-pressure environment, to promote networking and mentorship (particularly, for early career scholars) and to create an academic space for exchanges on issues of interest for Latinx philosophers.
